I don’t remember what we originally called this collection but it has been renamed. Most of this album was done in 1989 over at my old house on a Fostex eight-track tape recorder. I did the rhythm stuff on the first six tracks and then moved all of that to tracks 7 and 8. This left me six tracks for leads and vocals. This day and time that sounds impossible but that is what I had so I did it. At that time I had no compressors or peak limiters so everything had to be very carefully mixed. Fortunately the room and my monitor were pretty good and it all came out well. I think it is the best stuff I have ever done but, that’s just my opinion.
After we got recordable CD’s we went back and put all the stuff I did on little 45 records many years ago back in Houston on them and renamed all of it, Phil, Thru the Years. We also added a couple of Christmas songs at the end with the Harris sisters Jovina and Juanita singing with me. Give a listen and let me know what you think. Here are samples of all the songs. If you enjoyed the music presented here and want to hear more, click below to order a copy.
